About Stockyards Blacksmith Studio

Our Expertise

John La Monica is a South Side ironworker and master custom fabricator with decades of hands-on experience bringing complex metal projects to life. A former precision instrument machinist and longtime foundry operator, John combines old-school craftsmanship with problem-solving ingenuity, designing and fabricating one-of-a-kind architectural, industrial, and artistic metalwork from concept to completion. Now based in his Canaryville shop—Stockyards Blacksmith—he continues to revive the craft of manufacturing through meticulous custom fabrication, restoration of historic metalwork, and a deep respect for materials, tools, and technique. Known for his relentless curiosity and creativity, John builds pieces that are durable, precise, and unmistakably made by hand.
